Start the installation by setting the dip switch on the back of the tachometer.  Proceed to installation by setting up the dip switches on the back of the tachometer. Then follow these steps:

Step-by-step process for Multifunctional Gauge Installation:

Step 1 (Set switch one): 

Set switch one by trimming the sender type to an on position if your engine is a 2001 or newer model (two lead cable trim sender). However, you can set it off if your motor is a 1994 – 2000 model. (three-lead cable trim sender).

Step 2 (Setting switch 2): 

Switch on the generator position if your gauge motor is a 40 – 70 engine or six poles double stroke. Set to off position if the dual stroke is a 90 – 300hp or four-stroke of between 25 – 250hp engine or twelve poles.  

Step 3 (Setting switch 3): 

Set engine type position on if your gauge is a four-stroke motor or set it off if it is a double stroke engine.

Step 4 (switch a speedometer):

Then switch a speedometer because most US manufactured boats and ships use ABYC harness fuel sender connections.

Step 5 (Connect the engine end Oil/Trim harness):  

Connect the engine end Oil/Trim harness to your double square and four-prong connectors if the model is between 1994 – 2004 engines. 

However, if your machine is 2005 or newer, only the four male prongs and square connectors on the Harness/Trim are used.

Step 6 (plug the waterproof plug into your unused oil):

Now plug the waterproof plug into your unused oil/trim harness connector.

  • For 1994 – 2004 or newer models’ connections, connect the gauge end Oil/Trim harness connectors to the tach. It can also work on any model engine.
  • If your motor is the 2003 or earlier models such as F60, F50, F40, or F30, disconnect the pink cable from the tachometer.

To install tach and power signal harness:

  • Connect the single connector end of your harness to the matching color of the connector and on the key switch. However, you shouldn’t use the red wire by installing only the tachometer.
  • Connect your multi-connector end of the harness to gauges.
  • Connect the white cable on the speedometer to the gas tank sender wire (the pink cable should go into the gas sender).
  • Lastly, a blue and yellow wire is in the middle of the tach/power signal harness. Connect the blue and yellow wires with the backlight, and the gauges will come on immediately when the ignition key is started. However, when the blue cable is connected to the navigation light switch on the ship, the backlight will switch on when the lights are turned on.
